I'm here

Goaded into action by MrJones I thought I'd post briefly to catch up on what's been happening.

There's not much news from Central Road.

  • The old camping shop remains empty with Sainsbury's apparently losing interest and the Wetherspoons pub chain reportedly the front-runners,
  • Cafe Kinder shut down having run out of money, a shame for all those with kiddies, and forced the move of Little Voices into the library on a Saturday morning,
  • The three boarded up shops rumoured to be turning into a restaurant several months ago are still boarded up with no signs of life,
  • The former Just Devine shop has a forfeiture notice in the front window indicating that the landlord of the shop is the Sue Ryder charity. I'm thankful they're not exercising their option to open yet another charity shop on Central Road.
  • The demise of Airfix has seen queues outside Model Road & Rail of those eager to snap up a memento,
  • There's a book on the history of Worcester Park available from WH Smiths which I leafed through on Saturday morning. It looks interesting to those with an historical vein in their body so I might buy a copy............ might.

It's the Worcester Park resident's Associtation meeting tonight but I doubt I'll be there as I think Mrs Brinkster's out and about.

Interestingly (to me at least) a lot of the visits to this blog are people searching for info on these clothes collections things that get posted through the door. Don't be fooled people!!!

(by the way.... I lied about Model Road & Rail)

hoorah! It's a shame that Sainsbury's opted out of the camping shop but it would have been pointless with the one at North Cheam now being extended. Would be nice to see a few bigger names down the high street, I'm suprised the dreaded tesco hasn't stuck its toe in yet.

I've yet to venture into the wetherspoons at NC but I cant see a call for another one so close - especially with the mighty WP pub opposite the station.

Looking forward to seeing some Location, Location, WP action in March!
