NOTE: Between 11.45 and 14:15 today 20six 'lost' all of its blogs, including this one. Apologies if you tried to access it but couldn't.
If this should ever happen again try
this instead. If anyone can let me know how to export my old entries I'll move to Blogger or Wordpress.
----------------------------------------------------

If you go to the Bikehut website it shows a Worcester Park store as "Opening Soon" but on Friday I noted that the Bikehut sign that's been stuck on the front of the old M&S had disappeared. As we know they had a recruitment day in Putney on the 22nd of May but on 9th August they were still looking for a Deputy Manager and the Bikehut recruitment page currently says:
"Our flagship Brighton shop broke the mould when it comes to specialist bike shops. Then followed Putney and now we are currently recruiting for Twickenham and Dorking."

But the original version read:
"Our flagship Brighton shop broke the mould when it comes to specialist bike shops. Then followed Putney and Worcester Park, and now we are currently recruiting for Twickenham and Dorking." (from Google cache)

Lastly the Mirror has an advert for Bikehut jobs posted back in July which says:
"BIKEHUT is looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable cyclists to join new branches in Reading, Berks and Twickenham, SW London, both due to open in October, and Worcester Park, Surrey, opening shortly."

If that was July and we're now in October then I'm not quite sure what they mean by "opening shortly".

...

Having typed all of  this up I then phoned the Putney store and they told me the store's definitely not opening in Worcester Park because "something happened and they decided to go to Twickenham instead".

RIP Worcester Park Bikehut !

That really made me laugh!

Its a good job, it would never have lasted. Maybe another charity shop then...

If we can get the charity shop count of WP to at least ten shops then we can start a campaign to rename the town.

Or at least give it a slogan "Charity Begins At Worcester Park".

Speaking of which, I got a new charity collection bag through my door the other day. Cant remember what it was now but it wasnt Help The Aged or G.O.S.H. this time - but it was definitely a "proper" charity collection.

British Heart Foundation I think. I had one too and was going to post about it until 20six went AWOL.

I should probably do some kind of chart on Central Road shops to show the percentage of different sorts of business, though I guess the Traders Association should have that covered really.....
