Not exactly a disco

As I strolled off the train at 10 to 5 this evening I noticed that our most esteemed Worcester Park hostelry, The Hunstmans Hall, was illuminated by pulsing lights. Never fear, it wasn't an early evening disco but several of the local's finest holding one of the local's more dubious until a van could arrive to cart him away in. I'd have thought that most people would only approach that state towards the end of a boozy Friday night, rather than a sultry Wednesday, but perhaps he'd decided he wanted to make sure he'd get out on bail and back there before closing time.

Nice to see the Huntsmans is living up/down to its reputation.

Retail revival?

The former Cancer Research shop, seen here on the left of KFC, is soon to be an optician's according to the sign in the window. I would tell you the name of the newcomer but I can't remember how to spell it offhand so will resort to calling it "D&A". WP isn't flush with opticians but hopefully this one won't oust the one further up the hill which Mrs Brinkster frequents.

There seems to be a rash of house selling down Brinkley Road at the moment, with number 10 on for £320k, almost opposite for £285k and three doors further down this for £265k. Guess which one's got the 'Sold' sign outside?

I've had a request from a reader for advice about the Old Drill and whether it's a worthwhile drinking hole. I can't really comment as I only went in there once on a sunday night a few years ago and disliked it enought not to want to go back. I may be being unfair and it might have changed since then so please chip in with any comments if you've ever been there. In the meantime you could always check out the review on BeerInTheEvening.

Clothing scam?

Do you get those annoying leaflets through the door made to look like requests to donate clothes to charity, except they're not charities....... I get them every once in a while and I'm getting bored of them so I thought I'd run the latest one past you to see what you think:

It came through in the shape of a heart saying "We regularly donate children's homes and support charity organisations" giving the web address www.rootscompany.eu (which doesn't go anywhere). If you're fed up of them too then they put a phone number on it........ 07932095540

Location, location, location

I was sat in my armchair in the front room of Brinkster Central when I spied a well-tanned man in a suit strolling up and down the pavement outside, mobile phone in one and cigarette in the other.

On closer inspection it turned out to be Phil from Channel 4's Location, Location, Location who were filming at the so-far unsold number 10 (see my earlier entry).

Anyway, if you wanted a couple of photos, here they are!

Kirstie is apparently due to have a baby anytime now so she didn't make an appearance.

Location, Location, Location - reprise

Just when you thought it was safe to go out on Central Road, you find Phil and crew again!! This was taken on Thursday, like the previous ones.

One thing that amuses me about this photo is the complete lack of people. Worcester Parkies don't seem to be curious, starstruck folk on the whole. I can't wait to hear what he has to say about dear old WP, particularly if he'd strolled down as far as Ryan Gate.

Anyway, for the rest of you who just want me to stop blathering and show you a photo, here it is:

Awesome thunderstorm last night by the way. You needed to be in WP to get the best of it of course.

Stats and Latest annoying leaflets

Oddly my stats for Weds and Thursday were great (when I didn't post anything) than when I posted last Saturday. Go figure. Thankyou to the lovely person in the NHS who seems to have my URL memorised or have me in their favourites! *mwah*

Seeing as my previous post on the subject gathered a number of punters from Google here's the info from the latest annoying 'please give us your clothes' leaflets.

First one is registered to Raimundas Zemaitis and has the phone number 07800 961760. I haven't tried calling it but as he gave the company registration number I thought I'd look it up:

Name & Registered Office:
ISLAND OF HOPE LTD
70 WORSLEY ROAD
LONDON
E11 3JN
Company No. 05086042

The website http://www.isleofhope.co.uk/ doesn't seem to go anywhere and the domain was registered in Lithuania.

The second one goes uner the name PAJURYS LTD and comes up with the following details:

PAJURYS LTD
5 KING EDWARD ROAD
LEYTON
LONDON
E10 6LE
Company No. 05482825

Last Return Made Up To:
Next Return Due: 14/07/2006 OVERDUE
pajuryss@yahoo.co.uk

They seem to have been investigated by a newspaper when they were registered in Milton Keynes under the same number so have a few links in Google already. He didn't give a number otherwise I might phone him to tell him that his accounts are overdue at Companies House. I'm no linguist but a quick Google search for the word "pajurys" turned up a load of Lithuanian references too....

Don't get suckered people!!
